The graphic shows a handful of technologies that are making IIoT, Smart Manufacturing, and Industry 4.0 possible.
But there are a lot more!
The difficulty is that much of the terminology originates from outside the manufacturing community, from the consumer electronics, telecommunications, or SCADA industries for example.
So even if you are an experienced manufacturing professional, when these words show up in an OEM equipment manual or in a vendor’s sales pitch, it might be confusing at first.
Why is this just an ‘almost complete guide’? Because technology, devices, and concepts are being added so rapidly, I figure that it will have to be updated every 2 years or so to remain current.
Check out the link below for a reference publication, in Ebook and Paperback, that gives a short description of more than 120 terms used in Smart Manufacturing plants today. The paperback is 82 pages in 5" x 8" format (not as thick as shown by the hardcover mockup here).
